How to Download Twitch Clips on PC
Updated 2026-09-20
Twitch does have a download button on clips — for the person who created the clip, on their own dashboard. For everyone else there is no option at all, which is why this page exists.
- 1Copy the clip link
Open the clip and copy the address. Both clips.twitch.tv/… and twitch.tv/<channel>/clip/… forms work, as does the Share button on the clip itself.
- 2Paste it into VoomReel
Open the home page in another tab and paste the link into the box.
- 3Download
Click Download. The clip arrives as an .mp4 with sound.
Clips, not VODs, and that is deliberate
A clip is a short, permanent, publicly addressable piece of a stream. A VOD — the twitch.tv/videos/… recording of a whole broadcast — is a different object: hours long, often gigabytes, and frequently deleted by Twitch on a schedule depending on the channel's status.
VoomReel handles clips and says so plainly when it is handed a VOD, rather than starting a multi-gigabyte download that will time out. If what you want is in a VOD, making a clip of that moment first is the practical route — and it gives you a stable link as well.
Clip resolution follows the stream
A clip is cut from the broadcast, so it carries whatever the stream was running at — 1080p60 from a well-provisioned channel, considerably less from a mobile or a bandwidth-limited one.
Nothing can raise that afterwards. A clip from a 720p stream has no 1080p version anywhere.
Chat and emotes are not in the file
Twitch renders chat alongside the player, not inside the video. A downloaded clip is picture and sound only, the same as a screen recording without the chat column.
Channel-point highlights, polls and other overlays are drawn by the player too, so those are absent as well.
Sixty seconds is the format, not a limit here
Twitch caps clips at sixty seconds itself, so every clip you paste is already short. Nothing is trimmed on our side — you get the whole clip.
What will not download
Clips from subscriber-only or otherwise gated content, which a signed-out visitor cannot see.
Deleted clips, and clips from channels that have been suspended.
Live streams while still live. A live broadcast is not a posted file.
FAQ
Can I download a Twitch VOD?
No. VODs are hours long and often deleted by Twitch on a schedule; the supported object is the clip. Clipping the moment you want gives you a stable link as well.
Why does Twitch not have a download button for me?
It does, but only for the person who created the clip, on their own dashboard.
Do clips.twitch.tv links work?
Yes, as does the twitch.tv/<channel>/clip/<slug> form and the clip's Share button.
What resolution will I get?
Whatever the stream was running at when the clip was cut — nothing can raise it afterwards.
Will chat be in the video?
No. Chat is rendered by the player, not baked into the file.
Do I need a Twitch account?
No. Only clips a signed-out visitor can watch.
Does it work on Windows and Mac?
Yes, in any browser, with nothing installed.
