How to Download Instagram Reels

Updated 2026-07-18

Want to save an Instagram Reel to watch offline or re-share? You can do it in a few seconds, straight from your browser — no app to install and no Instagram login. Here's exactly how.

  1. 1
    Copy the Reel link

Open the Reel in the Instagram app or on the web, tap the ⋯ (or share) icon, and choose “Copy link”.

  2. 2
    Paste it into VoomReel

Open the VoomReel home page and paste the link into the box.

  3. 3
    Download

Tap Download and the Reel is saved to your device in its original quality.

Does it work on any device?

Yes. VoomReel runs in your browser, so it works the same on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. On iPhone the video opens so you can save it to your Photos with the Share button; on Android and desktop it downloads as a file automatically.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many Reels you download. VoomReel is supported by unobtrusive ads, not by charging you.

Will the quality be reduced?

No. The Reel is downloaded in the same quality Instagram serves — the file comes directly from Instagram's servers to your device.

What if the Reel won't download?

A failed fetch almost always means the Reel is private, has been deleted, or belongs to an account that's been removed — VoomReel can only reach content Instagram itself serves publicly, with no login. Double-check the link opens for you in a normal browser tab first; if it does, try re-copying it, since an edited or shortened link occasionally drops the ID it needs.

Does the original audio come with it?

Yes. Whatever audio track is attached to the Reel — trending sound, licensed music, or the creator's own voice — is baked into the video file exactly as posted. VoomReel doesn't strip or replace it, and there's no separate audio-only export; you get one file with video and sound together.

Reels vs. regular posts vs. Stories

This guide is specifically about Reels, but the same link-and-paste method works for any public Instagram video post — a Reel is just Instagram's short-form video format, and VoomReel treats both the same way once you paste the link.

Stories are different: they're only visible for 24 hours (unless pinned to a profile as a Highlight) and, as of 2026, Instagram requires a logged-in session to view them at all, even public ones. VoomReel deliberately doesn't support Story downloads for that reason — see the Stories & photos guide for the full picture.

Downloading several Reels from the same creator

There's no bulk-import or account-scraping feature, by design — each download starts from a link you paste yourself, one at a time. For a handful of Reels this is quick: open each one, copy the link, paste, download, repeat. If you're after dozens from one profile, that's a different use case Instagram's own interface doesn't support in bulk either.

A quick way back to the tool

If you find yourself saving Reels regularly, your browser's "Add to Home Screen" option puts a VoomReel icon on your phone that opens straight to the paste box — no app store, nothing installed, just a faster way back in than typing the address each time.

FAQ

Can I download someone else's Reel?

Only public Reels are supported. Always respect the creator's rights and Instagram's terms, and don't re-post content without permission.

Do I need the Instagram app?

No — everything happens in your browser.

Where is the Reel saved?

To your device's normal downloads folder, or your Photos/Gallery on mobile.

Will the creator know I downloaded their Reel?

No. Instagram has no notification for views, link copies, or downloads through a third-party tool.

Does it work on collab (co-authored) Reels?

Yes — a Reel posted as a collab is still just a public Reel under the hood, so the same link-and-paste steps work.

Does it work on Reels from a private account?

No. VoomReel only fetches what Instagram itself serves without a login, and a private account's content isn't public by definition.

Is it safe to use VoomReel on public WiFi?

Yes — the connection is encrypted (HTTPS) end to end, and no login or personal data is ever transmitted.
