How to Download Pinterest Pins on PC

Updated 2026-09-20

Right-clicking a Pin on your computer and choosing Save image usually gives you the version built for the grid, not the one that was uploaded. On a desktop screen the difference is obvious the moment you open the file.

  1. 1
    Copy the Pin link

Open the Pin on its own page and copy the address. Regional domains — pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.de and the rest — work as well as pinterest.com.

  2. 2
    Paste it into VoomReel

Open the home page in another tab and paste the link into the box.

  3. 3
    Download

Click Download. A video Pin comes as .mp4; an image Pin as the full-size picture.

The grid copy and the original are different files

Pinterest stores several sizes of every image and serves whichever fits the layout you are looking at. The board and feed views use a copy sized for the column, and that is the one under your cursor when you right-click.

The uploaded file is a separate, larger copy. Pinterest's own word for it is originals, and that is what you get by pasting the Pin's link rather than saving what the page happens to be showing.

The two look identical in the browser, which is exactly why this catches people out — you find out when you open the file at full size or try to print it.

Image Pins are most of Pinterest

Pinterest is an image site with video on it, not the other way around, and image Pins download the same way as video ones — paste the link, get the file.

Video Pins come as an .mp4 at the quality Pinterest stores.

Idea Pins are a different format

An Idea Pin is a multi-page post rather than a single piece of media. Where one is public and contains a video, that video can be fetched; the multi-page and image-only ones have no single file behind them.

Secret boards and deleted Pins

A Pin on a secret board is invisible to a signed-out visitor, and VoomReel never signs in. A deleted Pin is gone for everyone.

If a Pin link fails, opening it in a private browser window is the quickest way to tell which it is: if you cannot see it signed out, no tool can fetch it.

Note that Pinterest now asks for a login even to browse, which makes this test slightly more awkward than it used to be — but a direct Pin link still opens.

Why not an extension

A downloader extension asks to read and change data on every site you visit, and keeps that permission while updating itself silently. A web page sees the link you paste and nothing else.

FAQ

Why is my right-click save so small?

Because it takes the copy Pinterest built for the grid. Pasting the Pin link gets the uploaded original instead.

Can I download image Pins as well as video?

Yes, both, and images come at the full size Pinterest stores.

Do regional domains work?

Yes — pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.de and the other country domains are all accepted.

Can I download a whole board?

No. Pins are saved one at a time.

Why will my Pin not download?

Almost always the board is secret or the Pin has been deleted, both invisible to a signed-out visitor. A still image is not a reason.

Where does the file go?

Your browser's Downloads folder.

Does it work on Mac and Windows?

Yes, in any modern browser, with nothing installed.
