How to Save a Video From X on iPhone and Android
Updated 2026-10-02
Saving a video from X to your phone takes one link. Copy the post's link in the X app, paste it into VoomReel in your browser, and the video arrives as an MP4 you can keep in Photos or the Gallery.
- 1Copy the post's link
In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. Links from x.com and twitter.com both work.
- 2Paste it into VoomReel
Open voomreel.com in Safari or Chrome and paste the link into the box.
- 3Save it
Tap Download. On Android the MP4 downloads straight away; on iPhone it opens in a new tab, where Share → Save Video puts it in Photos.
On iPhone: from the tab to Photos
X's video host lets your browser fetch the file itself, so on iPhone Safari opens the video in a new tab instead of saving a file. That is expected, not a failure. Tap the Share icon on that tab and choose Save Video, and the video is in Photos with your recent items.
To keep it in the Files app instead, choose Save to Files in the same menu.
On Android: Downloads and the Gallery
On Android the video downloads as an MP4 into the Downloads folder. The Gallery and Google Photos pick it up from there, usually in a Download album, so there is nothing to move.
What quality you get
VoomReel takes the best version X serves to the post's viewers, with picture and sound in one file, and does not re-compress it. It is an ordinary H.264 MP4, which every phone, computer and editor plays.
GIFs come out as videos
What X calls a GIF is stored as a short, silent MP4, so that is what you get. It loops in Photos like any short clip; if you need an actual .gif file, a converter can make one from it.
Posts with more than one video
Paste the post's link once. Every video attached to it is listed, each with its own Download button.
What will not save
Videos from protected accounts, and anything in Direct Messages: neither has a public link, and VoomReel never signs in to X.
Deleted posts, and posts X only shows to signed-in users, such as those marked as sensitive media.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no app, and no limit on how many videos you save.
Do I need an X account?
No. VoomReel only needs the post's link, and works for any public post.
Where does the video go on iPhone?
Into Photos, once you tap Share → Save Video on the tab it opens in. Save to Files in the same menu keeps it in Files instead.
Where does the video go on Android?
Into the Downloads folder, and the Gallery shows it from there.
Will the poster know I saved their video?
No. Saving goes through VoomReel, not your X account, so nothing is sent to the poster.
Why did my X video save without sound?
Either the post itself is silent, or it was posted as a GIF, which X always stores without sound.
Can I save just the sound?
Yes. The ♪ MP3 button under the video saves its sound as an MP3.
