How to Download Videos on iPad
Updated 2026-10-03
An iPad can save videos without any downloader app: Safari does the downloading, and the Files and Photos apps keep them. Paste a link into VoomReel and the video is on your iPad, ready to watch without a connection — on a flight, say. Where it ends up depends on the site, and both routes are below.
- 1Copy the video's link
In the Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X or YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy link.
- 2Paste it into VoomReel
Open voomreel.com in Safari and paste the link into the box.
- 3Download
Tap Download. The video either downloads to Files ▸ Downloads, or opens in a new tab, where Share → Save Video puts it in Photos.
Two routes, depending on the site
For some sites, such as YouTube, TikTok and Facebook, the file comes through VoomReel and Safari downloads it like any other file: the downloads arrow appears in Safari's toolbar, and the video is in the Files app under Downloads.
For others, such as Instagram, X and LinkedIn, your iPad fetches the video straight from the platform, and Safari opens it in a new tab instead. Tap the Share icon there, then Save Video, and it goes to Photos.
From Files to Photos
A video in Files ▸ Downloads plays from there, but it is not in your photo library. Open it, tap the Share icon, and choose Save Video to add it to Photos, where it sits with your recent items.
Watching offline
Once a video is in Files or Photos it is on the iPad itself, so it plays without Wi-Fi or mobile data. Download what you want to watch before you lose the connection, not after.
Long videos take space: a minute of 1080p video is usually some tens of megabytes. Settings ▸ General ▸ iPad Storage shows how much is free.
Which sites work
Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitch clips, Snapchat Spotlight, Dailymotion, VK, Bilibili, Douyin and Niconico, among others. Public posts only: VoomReel never signs in to any of them.
Saving just the sound
Under most videos there is a ♪ MP3 button, which saves the sound as an MP3 to Files ▸ Downloads.
