Saving Pinterest Videos on iPhone and Android
Updated 2026-09-19
Pinterest has no save button for video, and the two phone platforms handle downloads differently enough that the same steps do not work on both. Here is each one.
- 1Copy the pin link
Open the pin, tap the share icon and choose Copy link. Short pin.it/… links work too.
- 2Open VoomReel in your browser and paste
Paste into the box and tap Download.
- 3Find the file
On Android it lands in Downloads and appears in your gallery. On iPhone it goes to Files, not Photos — see below.
On iPhone, the file is in Files and not Photos
Safari saves downloads to the Files app under Downloads, or to iCloud Drive → Downloads if you have that turned on. It does not put them in your camera roll.
This is the single most common 'it did not work' that actually did work — the file is there, just not where people look. Open Files, find it under Downloads, then Share → Save Video to move it into Photos. For an image pin, use Save Image.
Keep the tab in the foreground while it downloads. iOS suspends background tabs to save battery, and a suspended tab stops a download that is still running.
On Android it is simpler
Chrome saves to your Downloads folder and the file shows up in the gallery on its own. There is usually nothing else to do.
If it does not appear, check the browser's Downloads list — some Android builds keep downloads private to the browser until you open them once.
Image pins work the same way
Not every pin is video. An image pin returns the picture at the size Pinterest stores, which is generally larger than what a long-press in the app would have given you. The saving steps are identical; only the share-sheet option changes from Save Video to Save Image.
FAQ
Where did my download go on iPhone?
Files → Downloads. Use Share → Save Video from there to put it in Photos.
Do I need an app or a Shortcut?
No. It works in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on both platforms.
Does a pin.it link work?
Yes, and so do regional domains like pinterest.co.uk.
Can I save an image rather than a video?
Yes. Image pins return the picture at the stored size.
The download stopped partway on my phone. Why?
Usually a backgrounded tab. Keep it in the foreground until it finishes.
Do I need a Pinterest account?
No. VoomReel never signs in, which is also why secret boards are out of reach.
