VK Video Links and Long Videos

VK has accumulated several link shapes over the years, and a lot of what people save from it is long — full films, lectures, stream recordings. Both of those trip up tools built for short clips.

The link shapes that work
vk.com/video-<owner>_<id> and vk.com/clip-<owner>_<id> — the direct forms.
vkvideo.ru/… — VK's separate video domain, pointing at the same content.
The ?z=video… form, which is what you get when a video is opened from inside a wall post rather than from the video section. It carries the video id after the z= and is handled the same way.
m.vk.com mobile links, which are the same addresses with a different host.
Long videos work, they just take longer
There is no length limit. A two-hour video is fetched the same way a two-minute one is — it is a bigger file, so it takes proportionally longer and the wait before the download starts is longer too.
If you are on a phone, keep the tab in the foreground while it works. Phone browsers are aggressive about suspending background tabs, and a suspended tab stops a download in progress.
What will not download
Videos on private profiles or closed communities need an account to view, so a logged-out request cannot reach them.
A video that has been deleted, or whose community was closed, is gone. If the page no longer opens for you in a logged-out browser, there is nothing left to fetch.
