How to Download a TikTok Sound

Updated 2026-10-01

TikTok lets you favourite a sound, but not keep it. To have a sound as a file — an original sound, a voiceover, the audio of a slideshow — you take it from a video that uses it. Here is how that works, what the file actually contains, and where it ends up on each device.

  1. 1
Find a video that uses the sound

Use the video where you heard it, or open the sound in TikTok and pick any video listed under it. On that video, tap Share, then Copy link.

  2. 2
    Paste the link into VoomReel

Open VoomReel in any browser, paste the link into the box and tap Download.

  3. 3
    Tap ♪ MP3

Under the video, tap ♪ MP3. The sound arrives as an MP3 file, usually within a few seconds.

Why you paste a video, not the sound page

Every TikTok sound has its own page — the one that opens when you tap the spinning record — listing the videos that use it. That page is a catalogue, and there is no audio file behind it to fetch. What VoomReel fetches is a video post, and every video post carries its own soundtrack.

So copy the link of any public video that uses the sound, not the link of the sound page. The MP3 you get is that video's audio.

What the MP3 actually contains

Exactly what the video plays, from its first second to its last. If a video uses 15 seconds of a sound, the MP3 is those 15 seconds: TikTok never sends a full track along with a video, so no tool can pull one out of it.

If the creator talks over the sound, their voice is in the MP3 too, because a TikTok's audio is one mixed track, not separate layers. For the cleanest copy of an original sound, use the video it came from — the one whose creator is named on the sound — since that video's audio is the sound itself.

Quality: why 192 kbit/s is plenty

TikTok delivers the sound of its videos as HE-AAC at 32 to 96 kbit/s; that is the range we measured, and no video went higher. VoomReel turns it into a constant 192 kbit/s MP3, which has room for everything the source contains.

Tools that promise 320 kbps are describing a bigger file, not better sound — converting one lossy format into another can only keep or lose detail, never add it. The constant bitrate has a practical upside too: every player shows the right length.

Slideshows have a sound too

A Photo Mode post — the swipeable slideshows — usually plays a sound. Paste its link and the sound comes back as an MP3, next to the slideshow's photos at full size.

Where the file lands

iPhone: Safari saves it to the Files app, under Downloads. It plays from there, and any app that opens audio files can import it.

Android: it goes to your Downloads folder, and the download notification opens it.

Windows, Mac and Linux: it is in your browser's downloads, like any other file.

Posting your own video with the sound

If what you want is to make your own TikTok with a sound, you do not need a file at all: tap Use sound on the sound's page and TikTok attaches it to your video directly. An MP3 is for everything outside TikTok — listening offline, a clip for a presentation, a voiceover you recorded yourself.

Use sounds you have the right to use

Music on TikTok belongs to the people who made it. Saving the sound of your own video, a voiceover or a clip for personal listening is what this is for; publishing someone else's sound elsewhere needs their permission, and TikTok's copyright policy sets the rules on the platform itself.

FAQ

How do I download a TikTok sound?

Copy the link of a public video that uses the sound, paste it into VoomReel and tap ♪ MP3. The sound's own page has no file behind it; a video using the sound does.

Can I download the full song?

No. A TikTok video only carries the part of the sound it plays, so the MP3 is that part. Full tracks live on music services, not inside TikTok videos.

Is it free?

Yes — free, with no sign-up and no app to install.

Can I get the sound from a slideshow?

Yes. Paste the Photo Mode post's link; the sound comes back as an MP3 alongside the photos.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari. The MP3 lands in Files ▸ Downloads, where it plays and can be shared to other apps.

Can I download a TikTok sound on a PC?

Yes — in any browser on Windows, Mac or Linux. The MP3 goes to your downloads folder.

Can I use the sound as a ringtone?

The MP3 is an ordinary audio file, so any ringtone method that accepts one works. Most Android phones let you add a file under Settings ▸ Sound ▸ Ringtone; on iPhone, follow Apple's current method for your iOS version.

Is there a watermark on the audio?

No. A watermark is part of the picture, and the MP3 is sound only.

Can I download sounds from private accounts?

No. VoomReel never logs in to TikTok, so only public videos work.
