Video Downloader for Mac

Updated 2026-10-03

Most Mac video downloaders are apps to install, and many of them want a licence key. VoomReel is a web page instead: on a Mac or MacBook it works in Safari, Chrome or Firefox like any other site. Paste a link, and the video lands in your Downloads folder as an MP4 that QuickTime plays.

  1. 1
    Copy the video's link

Open the post on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X or another supported site and copy the address from the address bar, or use the site's Share → Copy link.

  2. 2
    Paste it into VoomReel

Open voomreel.com in another tab and paste the link into the box.

  3. 3
    Download

Click Download. The MP4 goes to the Downloads folder; open it from the Dock or from Finder.

Why there is nothing to install

Everything happens in the browser, so the same page works on an Intel Mac and on Apple silicon, on any recent macOS, with no app to keep updated and no extension asking to read every page you visit.

That also means nothing sits on your Mac afterwards except the videos you chose to save.

Where the files go

Safari and Chrome both save to the Downloads folder in your home folder, which sits in the Dock and in Finder's sidebar. In Safari, the downloads button in the toolbar lists recent downloads too.

The first time, Safari may ask whether to allow downloads from voomreel.com. Choose Allow, and it will not ask again for this site. To change where Safari saves files, open Safari ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ File download location.

Playing and keeping the videos

The downloads are ordinary MP4 files, so QuickTime Player opens them with a double-click, and so does VLC if you use it.

To keep a video with your photos, drag it into the Photos app. With iCloud Photos turned on, it then appears on your iPhone and iPad as well.

Which sites work

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitch clips, Snapchat Spotlight, Dailymotion, VK, Bilibili, Douyin and Niconico, among others. Public posts only: VoomReel never signs in to any of them.

Saving just the sound

Under most videos there is a ♪ MP3 button, which saves the sound as an MP3 to the same Downloads folder. The Music app imports it with File ▸ Import.
