Why X Says a Post Has No Video
Updated 2026-09-19
You can see the video playing on the post, and the downloader says there is none. That is almost never a fault in the tool — it is usually that the link you copied points at a different post from the one holding the video.
- 1Check whether the video is in a quoted post
If the video sits inside a bordered card below the text, it belongs to the quoted post, not the one you copied.
- 2Open the quoted post directly
Tap the card to open it on its own, then Share → Copy link from there.
- 3Paste that link instead
The quoted post's own link contains the video.
The quoted-tweet trap
When someone quotes a post that has a video, the video is displayed in their timeline but still belongs to the original post. Copying the quoting post's link gives you a post whose own media is empty — accurately, if unhelpfully, reported as having no video.
This is by far the most common cause. Tap through to the quoted post and use its link.
Photo posts and text with a link preview
A post with photos has no video at all, and VoomReel tells you that specifically rather than reporting a generic failure — so if the message says photo or text-only, believe it.
A link preview card is also not media. The picture you see belongs to the linked website, not to the post. Open that site and save it there.
Deleted media and protected accounts
Media can be removed while the post remains, usually after a copyright claim. The post still exists; the file does not.
A protected account is invisible to anything not signed in as an approved follower. VoomReel never signs in, by design, so protected posts are out of reach.
FAQ
Why does it say no video when I can see one?
Usually the video belongs to a quoted post. Open the quoted post and copy its own link.
How do I tell if it is a quoted post?
The video sits in a bordered card under the text, with its own author name.
What if the post really is photos?
Then there is no video to download. The message says so specifically when that is the case.
The media was removed but the post is still there. Can I get it?
No. If the file is gone there is nothing to fetch.
Can I download from a protected account?
No. That needs to be signed in as an approved follower, which VoomReel never does.
Does the ?s= on the end of the link matter?
No. Share-sheet tracking parameters are ignored.
