How to download Instagram photos
- 01Copy the post link
In the Instagram app, tap the share arrow on the post and choose Copy link. On the web, copy the address from the address bar; it looks like instagram.com/p/…
- 02Paste it into the box above
Tap Download. VoomReel lists every photo in the post; a carousel shows all of them.
- 03Save the photos
Tap Download photo on the one you want, or Download all for the whole carousel. Each one is saved as a JPEG.
Full size, not the 1080-pixel copy the feed shows
Instagram keeps several copies of every photo. The feed shows one that is at most 1080 pixels on its long side, and your profile grid shows square crops. A screenshot gets you whatever your screen happened to show.
VoomReel saves the largest copy Instagram keeps, uncropped. On the post we tested, that was 3725 × 3024 pixels, more than three times as wide as the copy in the feed.
A photo that was uploaded small stays small: nothing is upscaled, so what you get is exactly what Instagram has.
Where the photos land on iPhone, Android and PC
- iPhone: the photo opens in a new tab. Press and hold it, then tap Save to Photos.
- Android: it downloads to your Downloads folder.
- Windows, Mac and Linux: it is in your browser's downloads, as a .jpg file.
Which Instagram posts work
- Photo posts and carousels from public accounts. Every picture in the post is listed.
- Reels and video posts work too, on the Instagram video downloader.
- Stories are shown only to people who are signed in, and VoomReel never signs in, so Stories are out of reach.
- Private accounts stay private. If a post does not open for you in a private browser window, there is no public copy to save.
Photos from other sites, too
The same box saves photo posts from Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, Douyin, Imgur, LinkedIn, Snapchat Stories and TikTok. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see how to download Instagram photos.
Save photos you have the right to use
A photo belongs to the person who took it. Keeping a copy for yourself is one thing; posting it again is another, and needs the owner's permission. The US Copyright Office explains where fair use begins and ends.
Why use VoomReel for Instagram photos?
