How to download Instagram Reel audio as MP3

Where the MP3 lands on iPhone, Android and PC

What quality is an Instagram MP3, and why 320 kbps doesn't help

Instagram delivers the sound of Reels as HE-AAC at 59 to 86 kbit/s. We measured five Reels; none went higher.

VoomReel makes a constant 192 kbit/s MP3. That is well above the source, so the conversion keeps everything the Reel had, and because the bitrate is constant, every player shows the right length.

Converters that promise 320 kbps are describing the file, not the sound. An MP3 made from a 70 kbit/s source can't contain detail the source never had: converting one lossy format into another can only lose, never add.

Which Instagram links work

• Reels, feed videos and IGTV from a public account: links with /reel/, /p/ or /tv/ in them, copied from the app or the website.
• A carousel with several videos: each video gets its own ♪ MP3 button.
• Photos have no sound, so there is nothing to convert. Save them with the Instagram photo downloader.
• To keep a sound you heard in Reels, paste the link of a Reel that uses it, not the sound's own audio page.
• Stories, private accounts and Close Friends posts stay private: VoomReel never logs in to Instagram.
